About a year ago the CBC ran a program about vultures, dead bodies and CSI. It seems someone finally watched what vultures do. They move the bodies around, smash ribs and break bones, there are a number of murder convictions being reviewed because the CSI inaccurately processed the wrong scene and damage or cause of death. It just seemed to me the armadillo was walking down the road and not across, looks suspicious.

Armadillos’ natural defense works against them. When attacked by coyote, they wait until the last instant and jump straight up. The coyote runs right under them. By the time it can turn around, the armadillo has either run off, or dug into the ground. Unfortunately, against a car or truck, jumping puts them right into the bumper when otherwise it would have straddled right over them without harm.

Among vultures, “left wing” and “right wing” take on a different meaning.
