My Dad’s first job off the farm in 1947 was as a pin setter. There were no automated ball returns or pinsetters until 1956 when introduced by Brunswick. Otherwise this is still pretty funny.

My favorite part of that routine is the eventual perpendicular hand block.

Moe was the life and bowl of the party.

Just in case some younger readers don’t recognize them, they are The Three Stooges; i.e., Moe, Larry and Curley who famously made a habit of poking their fingers in one another’s eyes.

The eyes have it.

I liked the Stooges and still see them on TV occasionally. If I remember correctly, it was Larry, Shemp and Moe as the original cast, then Shemp was replaced by Curly.

After Curly suffered a stroke, Joe and Curly Joe came in. I never warmed up to either’s characters.

Moe was bowled over, by the comedic possibilities.
