Marcel Marceau (22 March 1923 – 22 September 2007) was a French mime artist and actor most famous for his stage persona, “Bip the Clown”. He referred to mime as the “art of silence”, performing professionally worldwide for more than 60 years.
Not about a mime, but I’m reminded of a true incident.
A Danish friend of mine was working with “retarded” children, one of whom was a little boy who was found abandoned in Greenland. He was classed as “retarded” because they had been completely unable to establish communication with him… in either Danish or Greenlandic. Then something happened in the presence of both the boy and my friend, to which the boy exclaimed, “That’s disgusting!”… in English! Turned out that the kid was normally bright but only spoke English, and he’d been intimidated by all the jabbering he couldn’t understand.

Maybe if you’d let him out of that invisible box and stop making him pull the invisible rope, that would help.

Check out Mel Brooks’ “Silent Movie”—where Marcel Marceau speaks the only line in the movie: “No!”

Saw him perform once; amazing!
Though he did kind of lose me when he said that he truly believed that he was close to the point where he would able to levitate………..

Good to see a tribute to a great entertainer of yesteryear. Ah, memories… they don’t make ’em like they used to.
