i’m 99% sure that if some billionaire would end up in jail they’d still find a way to make it tax deductible.
Expenses would be considered a deduction, not an exemption. The only thing in common is that they reduce the amount of tax you owe. Of course, this would screw up the replacement for “redemption”. I hate taxes, especially federal!
