As a kid growing up on the farm, we had those and the one’s that were just sulfur and salt. I used to get into trouble taking small pieces of the sulfur and salt one’s to eat.
There are so many small US towns with “lick” in them. Pre-internet I researched why, (It’s because there are natural salt licks near them. I did this after noticing on a map, Beaverlick Kentucky.

As a shepherdess I know how hard it can be to get sheep to eat their mineral supplements. I struggle with this all the time with my flock.
