Yeah, I remember those days. --I gas up at Costco and despite it being self-serve, sometimes I play the helpless female card get the attendant to do it for me. Depends on my mood. (One perk of being female). Hehehe

Oops, I use “dude” regularly. Male, female, young, or old it doesn’t matter.

During one gas shortage years ago, people lined up to get Gulf gas. Three blocks away, no line and free glasses with a fill-up at Shell. Who knows.

“Hey man, you’re holding up the line checking your oil.”

We had a full service pump at a station near us up until a few years ago. It was in the Snob Neighborhood. Even that’s gone now.

Wait, you actually got someone to approach you with an offer?

I remember some years ago, I stopped at a Shell station I had never been to before, and they surprised the heck out of me by giving me “Full Service”. It had been a very long time since I had seen that…

Even places like Oregon, where you can’t pump your own gas, they just come out and pump the gas and take your money ~ nothing extra. (I think it is still that way ~ haven’t been there for a couple of years)

So now in 2022 they not only wouldn’t offer you a rag, the towel dispensers would be empty

Times have certainly changed.
