I got a text once from our office in Germany, “Printer does not work.” I connected to it (from California, USA) and sent a text back: “It’s out of paper.”
I can’t even remember the last time I actually needed a printer at work… everything had been electronic for the last ten years. Even the HR stuff was online, sent as links in email or Slack. Xerox must be really hurting these days…
My friend’s father worked in a government office. Their air conditioning broke down one August, and they were informed the only person qualified to fix it was on his annual summer vacation…for 2 months. He returned in early September in time for his kids to go to school.

On the other hand if you can’t be replaced you can’t be promoted.

Sabotaging the business is not a good way to be indispensable.

And how many others in the office are aware of this sabotage? Good luck keeping that job, Dave.
