Joe told us about a year ago that he’d sustained a traumatic brain injury, and mentioned a couple of resulting disabilities. He is also living his normal life and enjoying comics. We have no right to demand of him any more than that. Nobody should have to explain themselves continuously.
I think today is the first time in ages I’ve seen so many comments complimenting aspects of the day’s comic. Corey certainly earned them!
Jesters eventually learn that you don’t always realize just who they’re making fun of if they arrived too late to know. So then it’s “mea culpa” time. Once they’ve apologized, we don’t need to demand any more than that from them either.
[I say, let’s all just forget about the “typecast” and “comidian” and other non-issues. There’s nothing to be gained by arguing over whether brain-injured people typecast themselves just by existing, or whether comedians owe us perfect spelling, or whatever else.]
