Mechanic: Okay, Mr. Winters... you're all set. Dusty: Thanks, Steve! Ah can't believe Ah ran out again! Mechanic: No problem... it's why I'm here. Dusty: And people say Ah'm crazy fer keepin' mah AAA membership! Miss Overdunne: Thank you for continuing to answer his calls. Mechanic: Actually, I'm not with AAA... I'm actor they hired to take his calls... he gets his gas, and I get a steady paycheck! It's great for all of us!
The behavior of an fuel injected vehicle that runs out of gas is quite different than that of a carbureted vehicle that runs out of gas.
I have run out of gas a few times, but that was years ago, in cars with carburetors.
My truck, which is fuel injected, ran out of gas a month or so ago. It’s behavior was (to me) quite different from running out of gas, so I had AAA tow it to my mechanic.
They put some gas in it and it fired right up.
I then paid them to drop the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump so it would send the right signal to the gas gauge – it had always read ‘full’ ever since I inherited the truck from my dad.
