The behavior of an fuel injected vehicle that runs out of gas is quite different than that of a carbureted vehicle that runs out of gas.
I have run out of gas a few times, but that was years ago, in cars with carburetors.
My truck, which is fuel injected, ran out of gas a month or so ago. It’s behavior was (to me) quite different from running out of gas, so I had AAA tow it to my mechanic.
They put some gas in it and it fired right up.
I then paid them to drop the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump so it would send the right signal to the gas gauge – it had always read ‘full’ ever since I inherited the truck from my dad.
