It’s a funny joke but here’s a cartooning tip: don’t superimpose one major element of a cartoon on another, especially if one of them is unusual, like a blind-folded parrot. The extra fraction of a second needed to visually grasp the situation blunts the humor.
Even better: eliminate the two sailors and have the captain deliver the punchline.
