By now I’ve seen hundreds of up-from-the-sea evolution cartoons, but this one is totally new to me. Seeing a really original cartoon makes my day. Great work, Glenn!
When I say it is original, I’m referring to the fact (based on decades of comics reading) that I’ve never seen the traditional fish-lizard-etc. sequence bump into anything before. If it had appeared here recently, I’d have noticed.
The pocket phone is one of those inventions like fire and guns. In an appropriate time and place they are handy. Otherwise they’re a material detriment to society.

It has not appeared on this strip before. I’ve read this every day for about 2 years now and I haven’t seen an evolution cartoon at all in that time.
