Actually only 2 species (The Emperor and the Adeile) of the 18 known species of penguins live in extreme cold conditions, while 3 other species (the Chinstrap, Gentoo, and Macaroni) will visit the less extreme northern regions of Antarctica during breeding season. The other 13 species all live in temperate to sub-tropical climates
