Regrettably this has the bite of truth to it and I am not trying to be political in my statement.
A teacher, even the best, can only do so much to motivate an individual student and there is a percentage of students who adamantly refuse to be motivated or to learn; who simply do not care; they are arrogantly ignorant (by ignorance I mean unlearned, not incapable of learning) and resolute in their opposition to education.
As for me, I am grateful for all the teachers I’ve ever had and I’ sure they despaired over me at times, but it is to them I owe my education and though I remain ignorant in many areas, I try hard not to be arrogant in that ignorance.
