KK: We're dealing with the plastic shopping ban just fine!! we keep canvas bags by the door and in the car!!
Dad: Thats not the point son!!
If you let them take away your plastic bags m whats next? salt? Bacon? cable?
So what do you put your trash in? Are you buying rolls of plastic bags for your trash? What about plastic diapers full of baby poo? Maybe this is more about drying up the source of free trash bags than concern for the ecosystem.
If people would get a clue that there is no such place as Away, to throw stuff, then maybe we wouldn’t need bans on things. There is some brain disconnect that makes people think that their trash just disappears into thin air. For some reason, some people think that they are the only ones here.
(Posting from Ireland) We’ve got a 22c levy on plastic bags and it works fairly well you can buy a plastic bag or a more durable bag for about 1.50 or you can steal a cardboard box from the shop to hold your shopping in.
You just don’t think about it until you travel outside the Republic and realise the shops are just giving you the bags. And it’s funny watching people come out of the supermarkets trying to juggle everything rather than pay an extra few pence.
