A viable, but risky, work-around to the problem would be for her to say: “I’m sorry, children. You are correct, that is a lie. However, it is what I am mandated to teach by the State Board of Education and I must not deviate from it or risk losing my job. I would suggest that, since you already know the truth, that you refute, for the benefit of the rest of the class, in detail, the lies I am forced to teach. That way, if we’re lucky, both the Board and Truth will be satisfied.”
