I got pulled over around 2003 in West Texas, and the cop tried to tell me the plastic cap from the water bottle sitting clearly visible in the console was “drug residue”. But it was equally obvious he was trying to come up with something besides “speeding” to haul me in for, instead of just writing a ticket.
