Those riders are a safety check for the band. Most have such intricate set-ups that to ensure things are built to spec, they put in a dumb ask to check if the producers have read the contract all the way through. Not divas, but OSHA checks.

Pointing out the stupid demand subverts the use of the stupid demand. I think Van Halen’s M&M clause was buried on page 40 of the contract.
