My German Shepard used to sleep submerged in my pool, on the steps, with just his snout and head hanging out. Every couple of days I would open the skimmer and take out a couple of pounds of wet damp fur, mainly his undercoat. I used to brush that stuff out, too, and my back yard would have a frosted look from his fur. We did this every summer, up until he passed. My wife now insists on short hair, Dome or round head dogs.
