(1) It’s not a swipe at Wiley, it is an homage. I love Non Sequitur, and especially Danae.
(2) It’s not a swipe at the posters here. I like not having flame wars.
(3) The original concept was a swipe at myself. The dialogue I was going to use was originally “THIS SPACE HAD SO FEW READERS, WE THOUGHT….” Then, when I was doing it, I realized how many silent panels I had done so far this week. Not counting the sound effect above, it’s eight out of 12 panels so far this week with no dialogue in a strip that usually has so much text that I’ve had to print the balloons in Eye-Strain-O-Vision a few times. So that’s where the idea for Danae’s speech here came from.
(4) The font for Danae’s speech is “Letter-O-Matic,” as opposed to my usual DigitalStrip, because it looked more like Wiley’s lettering.
(5) Maybe this will finally inspire Wiley to E-Mail me, even if just for a Cease-And-Desist.
(6) Danae is fun to draw.
(7) For stuff I need to draw for the strip, I usually use a Sharpie on standard typing/copy paper. For some reason, I lost my Sharpie this week. Yesterday’s plants were drawn with a rollerball, but the lines were so thin that when I drew Danae for today’s strip I wound up using a thick-pointed Marks-A-Lot marker I had laying around. Need to go buy a new Sharpie today.
(6) Speaking of non-sequiturs (in more ways that one), I just remembered I have to send an E-Mail to Teresa Dowlatshahi, then get back to work on the new novel. Talk to you folks later.
