Okay, for those who are having trouble reading the arc (which was kind of part of the point) here is the plaintext:
“I was thinking about how time is like a long country road, stretching onward toward the horizon. Now imagine that you are in the back of a cart travelling down that road. You are seated so that you are looking backward and can’t see the road ahead of you. The cart moves onward, relentlessly, toward eternity, carrying you along with it helpless. You cannot see where you are going, only where you have already been and, if you are very alert, a hint of where you are at the moment. This is what memory is like: seeing the road behind you. This is also why you can’t remember the future, even though the future is part of the same continuum, or road if you will, as the past. Now imagine you could turn your head and take a quick glimpse of the road ahead of you. This is what psychic flashes are, people turning their temporal head. Now imagine what would happen if you could somehow hijack the cart and reverse course. Or, even, jump off of the road and travel somewhere no one has ever thought of. Just imagine it. I have.”
To the best of my knowledge, Nikola Tesla never said this, or anything like this. It’s my own ramblings put into my fictional Tesla’s mouth. It kind of fits with the historical figure I based my mad scientist character upon, though.
