My electronics teacher believed (or at least told all his students) that Tesla had invented a force field device the size of a pack of cigarettes (ask your parents) that you put in your shirt pocket and nobody could touch you. Then again, he also believed that there’s a lake up in Canada that regularly emits disks of pure force that rise and leave the atmosphere, pushing planes out of the way as they go.
The biography of Nikola Tesla is fascinating reading. Not only was this tortured genius light years ahead of his time ,but his life is a brilliant reflection of the age he lived in.

Tesla, for all his genius, wasn’t a businessman. Edison, for all his flaws, knew how to merchandise.

some people(mostly extreme conspiracy theorist) think that tesla was an alien. or, that he was from the future who time traveled back and did things.

Tesla was definitely “from away.”

Edison was able to use the American anti-immigrant bias against Tesla.

If you give someone a penny for his thoughts and he puts in his two cents worth, where did the other penny come from?

If you haven’t seen this treatise by Matt Inman, it’s worth a read. Tesla was an alien mastermind, and Edison was an asswaffle.
