I’m fortunate….I often watch eagles searching for prey where I live. Mostly, they catch fish from the lake in front of my house. There is also an eagles nest on the island a half mile away. Even though I can see the white feathers pretty good without binoculars, a telescope is the best way to see them.

“We are eagles, son, not muggers.”Tell that to the osprey the eagles steal from.

Eagles are almost as common as crows here, and they’re just as much a scavenger. I don’t even know whether they actually still hunt – they’re always around roadkill. I do see hawks hunting all the time though. My father and I once stopped on a dirt road and observed a rabbit sitting there looking just like a chocolate rabbit. Suddenly a red-tailed hawk swooped out of nowhere and nabbed the rabbit. It was quite something to see
