Poor pup! He was either lied to, or had some misconception of the purpose of the trip. My parrots KNOW when we are going to the vet’s, I don’t have to say anything, but they complain the whole ride there.
We used to have a dog who loved going to the vet. She’d jump out of the car and race to the door before I could grab her leash. It was a bit of a struggle when you have 90 pounds of “I want to go in” when the door opens out. Once we got inside, she’d race past the desk and sail into the treatment room to get her blood drawn. The staff would give her a cookie and bring her back out, and then I’d have to drag her back to the car.
She had something similar to sickle cell anemia, and she died when she was only five. I didn’t cry when my father died as hard as I did when we lost Brinks.

When I had dogs, I would take them to the park AFTER the vet appointment.

Our Scottie knew when she was going to the vet. We would have to carry her to the car.
