Don’t fret Koko. That tree will be turned into mulch and be put in garden somewhere. A second life so to speak.

Somewhere out there is a small grove of 25 trees wondering where we are and why we didn’t come and cut them down. We’ve used the same 24" artificial tree since we retired in 1996.

To give a Christmas tree a little extra purpose and use…after thoroughly removing any and all decorations from your tree, especially the tinsel, you can place the tree somewhere in your yard, a nice corner out back, perhaps, propped in a snow drift, if you have any, and it will provide winter shelter for a variety of birds. Then come spring, either take it where it can be chipped or put it out for pick-up, if you have that service.

Still, it beats turning into a 2×4.

There was an item on last night’s news about local farmers welcoming donations of Xmas trees for their goats. Apparently they find them very edible.

I have always wondered why people cut down and kill something living to celebrate a birth.

Some places will collect them to help act as a barrier to invasive fish – carp especially.

Some trees go through the chipper, others end up lunch for termites. Circle of life…
