Outside the pub I go to there’s a small tapped barrel of water (always kept topped up) and a couple of dog bowls. The dogs are treated better than the patrons. I like that about the place.
Put on a winter coat on and sit in your car In the heat for as long as you can. Then walk around at whatever function you decided was fun with that coat on. Ask yourself, should I leave my beloved pet home in the a/c?
Read an article explaining “wet bulb” temperature, a more accurate representation of ambient temperature than heat index measurements(measured in shady conditions, btw!) and used by the military via a flag system. Here in Florida most days are at least red flag conditions, with a few reaching black flag levels. Not good for man or beast!
Thank you Mr. Raeside for spreading the word about pets in vehicles. Here is a video of veterinarian Dr. Ernie Ward who shows what it is like for a human to be inside a vehicle with the windows barely open – See the thermometer as the time passes. A very useful tool to share with your friends, neighbors and family: >
In Arizona it is legal for anyone to smash a vehicle window to rescue an animal or child…Inside vehicles temps can reach 150º or more in a matter of minutes.
The programming they have now that allows you to keep the engine running and the air conditioning on while you make a brief trip to a restroom is a great feature to protect the dogs that will only be left alone for a few minutes. But don’t start or join any long-winded conversations. And don’t use it for human children.
Great message! Didn’t I see another TOC cartoon showing the dogs listening to a tv news report about a dog being left in the car and commenting in the vein of “what moron would do that”?

Children, too. Yes, some “parents” are stupid enough to leave their offspring in roasting hot cars.

People who leave pets in cars should be sentenced to be in a car in high heat for a couple of hours!!! That’s all. Doubt many would survive anyway.

I wouldn’t even leave ice cream in a hot car, much less something living.

How can people be so stupid to leave a child or a dog in a hot car? Retrograde evolution.

Some people are just stupid. I’ve found that scolding them doesn’t help.

Always take water and a bowl when you walk your dog. Regardless of the weather.

Here a person is allowed to break into a car to rescue a pet or a child. Must call 911 first. Leaving the pet or child is a crime here.
