Many years ago I read a short story about people figuring out they could fly. (If a bumblebee could, then…..) At the end of the story, they were getting in each others’ way and acting like drivers.

Hitting each other in flying cars would be much deadlier than cars on the ground.

The Movie " The Fifth Element " does that best !

Eh why they all in same plane? They can goes from above and below also if they was flying.

That problem seems to have been solved by the Jetsons’ time.

Flying cars would be moving, those are hover-cars.

Imagine 3 dimensional line cutting. And road rage dogfights!!

I suspect a lot of people would fly to work with a serious weekend hangover.

Popular Mechanics wrote about thin flat-screen TV’s for 60 years before it happened.

Flying cars. The way people drive It would be a nightmare. Crashing into trees and wires, buildings and houses. Landing and taking off would be an issue too.

I don’t think it would be any easier.

People can’t drive in 2 dimensions, let alone 3. It would be utter chaos!

Yeah, and no brakes to speak of.

Good point, flying cars got everybody off the roads!

Be careful what you ask for …

Up until recently flying traffic in cities would be a nightmare. Note in “The Fifth Element” and the “Star Wars” scenes on Coruscant how wide the spacing between the buildings is. Maneuvering in New York, or worse London, would be impossible. Real autopilots would be a requirement. And absolutely no manual capabilities.

Imagine if everybody had an electric vehicle. I’d still be way faster than the gridlocked drivers, but the bicycle ride would be much more pleasant with the better air and less noise.

“Driving flying cars” seems redundant. We would just be flying our cars.
