Political scientists will write books about Moscow Mitch’s masterly use of parliamentary procedure and political maneuvering to achieve his policy goals and the broader goals of his backers. At every turn, he has made the maximum use of his status as party leader, whether in the majority or the minority, to get what he most wants. He used Don Juan to completely remake the judiciary, he hopes for decades to come. I believe that was his fondest wish and he achieved it.
He has repeatedly manipulated the legislative gears so that Democrats were forced to be the ones to change the rules of debate to get anything done. This relieved him of that task and gave him the tool he wanted when, inevitably, he became the majority leader again. It’s a strategy that really puts a premium on, that demands, absolute solidarity within your caucus, and he has been up to the task when he needed to be. It is brilliant, and it has been brilliantly executed.
I see the gov of GA signed the bill to trash any Democratic votes and they have already arrested a Democrat Rep to show they mean business. She knocked on a door being Black which is a felony in GA.
Republicans realized, as far back as Gingrich, that they can not win a fair, civil, principled argument. They’re ideas are just too out of date and, rather than grow conservatism to suit a new century, they gave us, first, wedge issues, guns, god, gays and abortion. When that stopped working, since younger voters are far more compassionate then they are, they turned to voter suppression. If you can’t win a fair fight, change the rules. I miss principled leaders, of any stripe. Mitch might be cunning, but he is an utter hypocrite and liar.
If Mitch had a way to scorch the earth any more than he already has, he’d have done it. He looks sad and desperate when he is making this bluff, and Schumer is absolutely correct when he says that we are going to do some good stuff, and if the Republicans want to get on board, we welcome them and their ideas, but if they want to do all they can to obstruct, then it will be harder, but we will do it with or without them.
We can’t vote out Moscow Mitch here in Kentucky. Two many religious rednecks supporters. About the only relief I can see, would be him stroking out. He’s older than dirt.
I like where Biden’s going. Let’s see what they do with a good old fashioned talking filibuster. Please, let the R’s take a public stand against health care, restoring our infrastructure, equality of wages and opportunity.
In April 2017, Senate Republicans led by Mitch McConnell extended the nuclear option to Supreme Court nominations in order to end debate on the nomination of Neil Gorsuch.
In Georgia a black state representative was arrested for knocking on the chamber door of the governor at the state capital. She was told to stop and leave. She continued leading to her arrest for disobeying a lawful order among other things. Sad state of affairs there. The Republicans even passed a law saying it was illegal to hand out water to those waiting in line to vote!!
Bring it old man. I’ll fight you to the death to ensure every American has the right to vote their conscience. Jim Crow is dead and he’s not coming back if enough Americans stand up to fascists like you Moscow Mitch

Brilliant! An accurate depiction of Moscow Mitch and his RepubliKlan posse! All that’s missing is the nation’s bootlicker Leningrad Lindsey.
