@Night-Gaunt49 (from yesterday) – I appreciate your suggestion of good media sources, but I wasn’t recommending How’s Your News as a source of news. I was recommending it as a sample of what developmentally disabled people can do when they’re taken seriously as individuals and are given the tools and guidance they need to express themselves.
How’s Your News illustrates how comparing a guy with Down Syndrome and a cereal box camera to Fox News is not an insult to Fox News, which appeared to be the intention of yesterday’s TMCM. It was an insult to developmentally disabled people.
If the message of yesterday’s TMCM was to show that it takes a developmentally disabled person to know what the real and important questions are, then my apologies. That message would have been obvious had “Fox News” not been on the fake camera (since it comes from someone in support of Occupy). With “Fox News” on the camera, the message is ambiguous.
(I would also recommend the Aug 3 episode of This American Life.)
