The solution to problems caused by progress has always been technology. I see no reason for that to change.

Chimpanzee-hybrids are not that alien… But, I do see a LOT of them banging around into each other on the streets these days.

I would have thought the same thing, Wallace, until the Ukraine was attacked :(

I’m leaning more toward Spud’s skepticism, sorry to say

Wallace leading the parade with his stick baton. I had “76 Trombones” playing in my head the whole strip.

Things do look bleak, and they definitely aren’t great currently…but according to current research, climate experts note that we have improved conditions somewhat with what has been done thus far, that the trend of shifting to more environmentally friendly practices is growing not declining, and that they are becoming increasingly confident we’ll probably avert at least the absolute worst-case scenarios, and should all these trends continue, we may yet still avert other bad-case scenarios still.

Obviously, there’s still plenty more that needs to be done that hasn’t, and we’re not out of the woods…but like Wallace, I think it’d be more productive to look at it optimistically, that we still have the chance to sort it out and the capability to do so, than Spud’s defeatist “why bother anymore” sort of attitude.

Divisiveness, hatespeak, climate death, lower standard of living. But the Corporations and billionaires are happy, so we must make the best of it?

We have the ability to change. Unfortunately we do not have the political will to do so.

Love of technology for its own sake is what’s getting us into so many problems, some of them intractable.

Until the Covid shutdown, the rich got rich and the poor got richer. The number of people without basic needs was going down globally. But the poor and middle class were the worst hurt by the shutdown.
