Never had the shoe problem at primary school, thank goodness. Only wore shoes on special occasions or if I went to ‘Big Town’ with my parents, both of which were rare.
Randee of the Redwoods had a standup routine back in the 80’s, where he talked about the emergency ward nurses, after his 10th or 11th visit, putting together a list of things he should not do. One was taking those big wooden ornamental salad spoons that restaurants hang on the walls, seeing if you can jam one in your mouth and then try to rotate it. He’s been going through the list and testing each one to see if they’re all bad ideas. So far, he’s gotten up to #18, and he wonders how they came up with some of this stuff. But, yeah, each one has been a mistake. I think barefoot and shoes on the ears never made it to the list.
I love the way Will Henry draws ears. We have a momma raccoon living out back who has unusual ears compared to other raccoons – they stick out sideways and are narrow – so she has become Momma Wallace.

!ove, love this strip. ALWAYS will. What I don’t like is that it’s black and white in my daily newspaper. Can NOT see the details!

I bet that wasn’t written down until two, maybe three ̶y̶e̶a̶r̶s̶ weeks after Wallace started.

I had to wear a tie in school (Catholic). I hated it. One day I came to with it tie around my head, like a bandanna. They were not pleased.

Wasn’t it the story of Little [Hindu] Sambo that had the boy telling the tiger that slippers were fine ear decorations?
