Ah ha, THAT’S why Mal fled, and I’m guessing he had good reason, as I’m pretty sure Mal picked up on how this guy’s up to no good, or was at least altogether untrustworthy, because Mal’s good at that sort of thing. New priority for Ben, then—figure out just what the heck this “job” the American wants Mal for, and most likely, be working out how to stop it.
In other news, I’m surprised the knuckleheads that American considers his lackeys were able to track down Mal at all at any point in time. They definitely didn’t seem that capable earlier when they snagged two people that are most definitely not the real Harry and Sid.
