    Growing up Mom cooked rutabaga and parsnips which we had to eat. Fast forward about 40 years and we were visiting, she made dinner and asked which I’d like rutabaga or parsnips. Neither! But you ate them as a kid – only because I had to. Ick – ick -ick!

    Rutabaga properly prepared is quite good. My family requires I prepare it every Thanksgiving. :-)

    Cooked turnips and rutabagas are okay, but I’ve always preferred them raw. Cutting thin slices then putting on a little salt. Or I’ll dip them in a “zesty” vinaigrette dressing.
