Been lots of those acts out there. After seeing winning candidates in action, you wonder if they wasn’t just the least objectionable of a bad lot. People vote for the one they don’t like the least.
Sounds like the person that had my job before me. When I answered the phone on the first day, 5 seconds of silence, then, “You answered!” I replied, “It rang!” The bar was set pretty low.
