    Agent realized payout if the guy died would be much higher than the current cash value and decided to cut his potential losses.

    Never been different. My dad paid a nickel a week on a policy for decades from 1935. Mom received a really nice surprise from the payout. Had he cashed it in early, result would have been peanuts.

    Old joke that I believe I first saw in BC some 50 years ago: Agent: Life insurance is a bet by the company that you’ll live to a ripe old age. Client: What happens if I die young? Agent: You win!
