I spend very little money on groceries because I make nearly everything I eat from scratch. My weight is steady at about 10 lbs over optimum, but that’s mainly because I have this “thing” for Trader Joe’s Coffee Bean Blast ice cream! … and home-made chocolate chip cookies.

    Yeesh, eat less calories.

Been trying to consume about 1000 or less calories a day instead of my normal 3500 calories a day in order to lose around 150lbs by 12/310/2024. Since 01/01/2024 I have gone from 298lbs to 251lbs with a goal of hitting 150lbs weight. Yes I do drink plenty of liquids, walk no less than 25,000 – 30,000 steps daily in addition to a drastically lowered calorie count. Been getting many compliments at work about the weight and inches I have lost since the start of the year. Of course, I have gained some weight and lost it again. And I believe that I am doing the absolute minimum effort to lose weight.

There are some ironies about this. In a society like ours with a pretty big gap between rich and poor, the most likely to be overweight are the poor because the foods available to them are not particularly healthy. The healthiest, best quality foods are often the most expensive. The other aspects of this include Lowe income workers often having very little time, so they end up resorting to quick foods which are never healthy. Moreover, they often don’t know how to cook well because there’s been nobody to teach them. They also can’t afford (money wise or time wise) to go to the gym. In societies with smaller wealth gaps, the overweight isn’t as much of a problem.

Notice that childhood obesity isn’t a big subject in the US like it had been. Wonder why?

It’s funny because we’re fat, and the leader of the country thinks we don’t need to eat as much.

I make a lot from scratch, and my groceries still cost me an arm and several legs each month.

Apparently all the citizens of Id can afford to eat are rice, beans, potatoes, and pasta. Of course they’re fat. A healthy diet is expensive.

Healthy food is expensive. Junk food is cheap.
