Never could understand family leave. You decide to have a kid, but your employer has to pay you not to be there? Does this not discriminate against single individuals? Why not take vacation time? Or personal days? Why should an employer be held accountable for a person’s decision to have kids? They depend on an employee’s presence, & why should they have to hire a temp or foist the employee on leave’s workload on others? Same as for caring for elderly parents. People need to plan & save for these life occurrences. They are major decisions where the workplace should not be involved. Business should not be involved in health insurance either.
