Reminds me of a time I was attending a party. A lawyer with a JD degree was talking to me about my having lived in Alaska and Hawaii. She commented that she didn’t understand how Alaska was so cold and Hawaii had such a warm climate when they were right next to each other. I replied that they weren’t that close and she insisted they were. She took me into the host’s den where he had a very nice map of the United States. She pointed out the States of Alaska and Hawaii, side by side on the left side of the map, and looked at me triumphantly. I had to admit that-on the map-they were side by side. I then took her to the globe that the host had on the other side of the room. I gently explained that the flat map showed Hawaii and Alaska in insets, rather than in relation to the rest of the country. So, a piece of paper does not show “Smarts”. All it shows in a certain amount of intelligence and gluttonly for punishment to complete the program you are in. I know, because I have a BSEE, MSEE and MBA-and I am far from the smartest person I know.
