I worked on Spongebob both for Nick Mag and for his standalone comic from the beginning. Saw the first episode at the Nick offices in NY months before it aired. So this is a shock to me. I wrote stories, drew ‘em, colored, did all sorts of jobs for the Sponge. I didn’t get to meet Steve, but he saw my work because he had to approve it. I didn’t know he was gone until John told me.

Sponge Bob always makes me feel better after an episode or two. Gotta binge some today. RIP Stephen

Bit of a shock!

Thank you for the tribute. He was way too young.

Here in Houston Ray Hill has died. A very important activist for 55 years. Only found out about it today. Sadness. Never did watch much of Spongebob Squarepants. ON the internet you can see the principle actors reenact the pilot at the 10 year anniversary.

In the cartoon/comic industry, this year, 2018, has lost Mort Walker, Stan Lee and Stephen Hillenburg. Any one know of any others?
