Today is the worst 4th of July ever. It should have been our 50th wedding anniversary. My wife was really looking forward to driving her classic 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 in the local parade. It would have been decorated all over with a big sign that said “Married 50 years ago today!” and our great-grandchildren and I would have thrown candy out the window for kids to grab. Alas, it was not to be. She died right before Christmas of ‘20. I’m having a rough day.
