In first grade, Mrs Brown, when told that I had pinched another student, said, “Pinch him back!”
And she meant it. And I got pinched.
Another student bit a classmate. Her response was to say that she would bite the next kid who bit someone. And made a point of showing us her teeth, obviously much larger than ours.
Of course, she didn’t really mean it, but we were all convinced!
I don’t think there was any more biting or pinching after that.
