Had a company meeting where they presented a similar sales trending chart (as a preview to justifying upcoming layoffs). When the CIO asked the VP of Sales what he was doing about it, the VP said “there’s plenty of profit in there – you just can’t see it”…
So the executives laid off 80% of the engineering staff and hired more salesmen. Our company provided engineering services… they closed the doors about six months later. But “it was okay” because those executives all had golden parachutes…
