Oddly enough, there was a blind section of divided four-lane highway about an hour from where I live. Oddest thing you ever saw. It was only about a quarter mile long. Sat there for over three years before we found out what it was for. They diverted the highway beside it onto the blind section so they could install a new bridge.
Some physicists have suggested that a “worm hole” could be responsible for such an occurrence, but it seems to me that that would require an awfully big worm.
I once met a downhill skier on a cross country ski trail. apparently he’d decide to ski off in his own direction. He was looking for the lift. at the time, I didn’t even know there was a downhill ski area nearby. I wished him luck.
