I understand the real Buzz (Aldrin) was quite tickled by Toy Story.

I once told my teacher that Alan Sherman (writer of “Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah”) had gone to the moon instead of Alan Shepard. Maybe they shoulda sent some singers…

It’s not Zack’s fault. Kids today have a lot more history to learn than we did.

In some states they spend more time teaching the answers to the assessment test than the subject. The average student learns no more than what it takes to pass one of those tests, which is good for the school district (more money) but not so good for the student who has NO idea what the civil war was about, or Viet Nam, or even who Kennedy was.

OK, the big question:How many colonies were there in North America in the 1700’s?Most US Americans get this wrong.

In addition to the 13 that formed the US there was upper and lower Canada. In the islands below the US there was Jamaica. Not sure if any of the other islands below the US were considered colonies on their own. I know the Canadas and Jamaica were invited to join in with the US in the Rev War, but refused.

We are 1770s reenactors and at events and at school presentations it amazes me not only what children do not know, but what adults do not know. Niece – 11 yrs old – did not know who Geo Washington was. When husband was director of a special ed school staff refused to teach historic holidays, the beginning of knowledge of history for younger kids. I have adults who are amazed that cooking was done over a fire/ People seemed amazed at the concept that there were rich people, poor people and “middling sort” and they dressed, ate, etc. differently. And more stuff that amazes and scares me in what adults do not know.
