Gary Olmstead— I am intuitively on your side; but I am not in the habit of blindly following strangers’ links to learn something I know not what….. My take is: Are we to besmirch Mozart’s music and life for dying young? Are we to belittle groundbreaking Bruce Lee for dying in his 30’s? Michael Jackson was a terrific dancer and musician, are we to throw him out the window because he was a weirdo too? I would hope not. Everyone accomplished can inspire us to do more with our lives. No one is perfect, no one is without faults, and no one is without a magical glow of the Sacred…. I prefer to be inspired, and not a cynical old grump like MeGoNow. Gavin: Bravo & Kudos to you. Chrystos -It’s the most moving tribute to Van Gogh that I have ever read. In a hundred words, more or less. Have I ever steered you wrong?

The original Dr Who (1963 – 1989) was a very… special… show. The revamped version (2005 to today) is some of the best TV around, which is pretty faint praise, I know. Another great clip, also on YouTube is “the one word test”. Search for “one word test”, it’s the first thing that comes up.

@Gary Olmstead – Love me some Dr. Who. Episode you are referring to is one of my all time favorites. Sad because you know what happens but so sweet the thought that you could show Van Gogh how his work affects people.

As for the strip why doesn’t anyone on here find it odd that the parents of this child had not instilled enough confidence in him to ignore what the teacher said and to continue expressing himself in his art. I always find it funny that people seem to skip over the part where the person (character) lacks belief in themselves. You should always be able to look in a mirror and say I am worth something.

Not to offend anyone (don’t actually care) but my favorite bible verse is Hebrews 13:6 “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

As a Christian I always think why would I ever doubt my worth when I am a child of God. Ultimately, who or what ever is your higher power in life should instill in you confidence. Let no one tell you otherwise.

queenkimmie -No, I don’t find it odd at all. His parents wanted him to be a minister, and sent him away to boarding school at age 11. Instilling children with confidence is a comparatively recent addition to what parents are supposed to do for their children.

By the way, this is not “The” Vincent. (Judging by the Ninja turtles + Rubics Cube). It is possible that his art is not very good and he would be happier finding his real talent.
