Yeah, Luann is being a drama queen, but she is right when she says that she and Quill have not spent much time together. What is that about? I hope that this does not end badly.

Folks, she has a point. They haven’t spent much time together. Relationships need quality time, and they haven’t had that either. Like a doctor’s wife, ya know? Maybe there could be a compromise of some sort? He DOES need to pay a bit more attention to her.

She should be in the show. Betcha Gunther is there. Why not her. But what gets me is they have noteven thought of it ~? In the old days, Quill made SUREshe would be with him in the play. They also made arrangements to be together. A lot. Then. I sense thisis ending.

I wonder how much longer Quill can maintain his stoic equanimity? If he pops off back at Luann, this could escalate into a major breakup. On the other hand, Luann is being totally unrealistic; instead of hurling negativity at Quill, if she really wants to be with him, she should be exploring ways to accomplish that while he helps out at Moony Uni….

How much time has Luann devoted to this relationship, since Quill came back? Why is this all Quill’s fault? He has school, and she has school. (Don’t they see each other there?) They both have jobs (illegally, in Quill’s case, but never mind). Does she not see Quill as often as she did during his first stay in Pitt because he is spending his time with Gunther instead, or what?

At least there is no shilly-shallying that anyone pays attention to regarding Quill’s orientation.

Luann needs to get….well, several things probably, all of which are probably impolitic of me to voice here.

Chill LuAnn. The tighter you hang on the looser is your grip and he will be gone. Cheer him on and you work on your career too. If it’s meant to be it will be.

Raise his attention and not your voice and you will accopmplish much more.

A degree in Theatre will assure that Quill and Luann will work in a mobile cafe the rest of their lives.

It’s OK for Luann to take the Thanksgiving holiday and then an additional week away to visit colleges and make plans about her future, even thought it was a total waste since she has no plans of going away to college. However, it’s selfish of Quill to spend time at Christmas pursuing an opportunity that would be beneficial on his resume, because he doesn’t count. Right?

Helloooo, Luann, its a University, for students. The simplest solution? Attend the Mooney Uni, and you can see Quill all the time…… put your thinking cap on, girlfriend!!!!

Luann’s visit to her Aunt was a family activity, and family activities are often part of what is called a ‘personal life’. Quill’s activities are all about developing what he expects will be his career path. Someone who can’t achieve a balance between personal life and professional ife IS bent out of shape, and finds himself alone with his ‘career’ to keep him company as he ages. And acting, more so than many careers, is often not friendly to those who are aging. Something to think about.

Can any one say “Selfish?”

I hope that is sooner, rather than later. The contrast between the way Quill is treating Luann and the way that Brad and Toni are discussing THEIR future is striking. Quill just assumes he can park someone on hold and get back to them when he has a few spare minutes. That isn’t the way life runs. Time runs out while you’re busy with unimportant details at work.

I guess you haven’t had your morning coffee yet. Go get some. Today was the first time Luann said ‘me’. Before this, it was about ‘us’. And the contrast between how Brad talked to Toni about ‘us’ (his belief that, as long as they were together, they could handle details) and the way Quill is telling Luann that maybe he can make some time for us, is very telling.-Quill and Luann should go their separate ways. He has no real interest in a relationship, because that means making room for it in his life. As you said, he has his own life and wants. Clearly, he doesn’t see a relationship as part of ‘his’ life, but just as something that a few minutes are devoted to, between more important matters.

My hope is that Luann doesn’t waste one minute of time crying in her cornflakes, and gets on with her life. Maybe she’ll meet someone at the community college who realizes that relationships mean companionship and shared time, not just spending a few minutes with someone in between more important things.

But there was plenty of “us”, during the summer!…

Luann had to go away to “Aunt Huggy’s” last week, Quill feels_he has to go away, next week… there’s III sides to every story, and these two just need to become skilled engineers, and start building bridges!….

Where is Bernice to remind Luann of her selfish side?

She did start seeing Aaron in a different light, after a while… she sort of relaxed her stance on him, the more “flaky” and oblivious he became… but, especially since there were a bit more options available to her, gradually…

To those of you who are saying that Quill is making a mistake by spending the holidays working on a drama production, which will help advance his career plans, and he ought to be spending his time with Luann instead, because relationships are more import: Where were you people last week, when Luann extended the Thanksgiving holiday to go from college to college? Why wasn’t it more import for her to be with Quill, concentrating on their relationship, instead of doing something to prepare for a future career? I just don’t recall you people saying any of the things about Luann then that you are saying about Quill now, even though the situation is quite similar. (In fact, it was worse for Luann to take time away from their “relationship” to visit those colleges, since she’s not even going to enroll at any of them!)

Note that this “We need to be spending more time together!” revelation came after Luann had visited the colleges and then decided she had no talents or goals and so she should stay in Pitt after graduation, Then, all of a sudden, full-time togetherness with Quill became a huge priority, far more than it had been when Luann was thinking that she might have more things to come in her future than just staying at home for the rest of her life. It’s too bad that Quill still has some ambitions! Now that Luann has decided that she doesn’t have any, he had better forget about his, too!!!

Epic Bernice post, Lev. The 08-08-02 strip is pretty much why I started reading Luann in the first place. Looking for the greatness like that of that arc, I wandered through the archives, holding my lamp aloft etc. She sure used to be the best character by far and away. Wish she’d come back!
