    An email or text may be cheaper and faster (and acceptable) but a hand written thank you shows a lot more appreciation and gratitude to the giver.

    Cheaper to email and why send thank you for Christmas cards. Postage is going up next year.

    At this point, I’ll take either one, as long as it says something more specific than “thanks for the gift.”

    Those who don’t bother to even acknowledge the gift will never see another one from me, as a number of family members have found out.
