Good morning everyone. If the kitties are putting on weight, Annie must be feeding them well.

What a sweet gray kitty! I am searching for a russian blue type, but older. Our local shelter has only a few kitties, and the nearest rescues are a few hundred miles away!

SheMc: No, Roxie is a foster baby. The litter was found in some local pecan fields. Everyone was sick with distemper so had to go to Best Friends for a while. They lost one baby. Then Susan had them. Then she went on a trip so I got them on July 16. Everyone got fixed and had shots. The siblings got adopted but then Roxie got ringworm in one place on her leg. She has now been cleared for adoption. I got email from the couple who adopted her Siamese looking brother and they might take her. I’m waiting to hear. If not, then she will go to PetCo this weekend for adoption.

I had a gray boy, Simon. He was the most loving cat I’ve ever had. My mother named him, and she was his favorite. He had a very quiet meow. He was born in our backyard and he made it to almost 17.

That “favorite wet food” picture is SO true!

I LOVE the “found my mittens” pic

I had to go to PetCo last night to adopt out a HUGE kitty. She had been turned in to the shelter because her 84 yr oldhuman had to go into a nursing home and once again, none of her relatives wanted kitty. I never thought we would get a home for her. But, a young woman called me who saw Nikki and fell in love. She said she just loves big fat animals. She has never owned a cat so had a lot of questions. I took my biggest carrier to loan her and pushing Nikki in there was no small task. We give our new owners a certificate for a free exam to one of the local vets and I warned her that the vet would probably tell her to put Nikki on a diet. Maybe 1/4 cup of diet food once or twice a day. And, to skip getting a litter box – get a long and low plastic storage bin at WalMart. That way Nikki can get her entire body in there.

For excersize, maybe just start by having her walk up a few steps to get a toy or use a feather toy or something she likes to chase. Not a lot right now, but start slow. I don’t want poor kitty to have a heart attack.

Anyway, I’m guessing the poor old lady gave this kitty treats constantly as well as a lot of people food.

I’m “allergic to food”, too. Too bad I don’t like chasing a feather toy or a jingle ball.

Two friends of mine just rescued a mom and her 4 kittens from a McDonalds dumpster a few days ago. Turns out they all have hook worm and are being treated. We are trying to socialize the kittens, who are all tabbies and as cute as can be. Her vet will spay them all for free when the time comes. I’m just happy they are safe for now. Love the pics today! >^..^<

To all of you wonderful folks who rescue, foster and love these homeless kitties: a thousand times thank you. It is an honor to hear your stories. We all carry the love required to be animal caretakers for these cats, dogs, bunnies, donkeys and horses and I am sure I am leaving out other animals that get abandoned. Yesterday I had my left eyebrow slit open and a huge hematoma removed from my fall two weeks ago. I told the plastic surgeon that I had requested of my donkeys and horses that they not kiss me and nuzzle my head for a week or two. He was dumbfounded that equines like to cuddle. Caring for them is what keeps me going. Love to you all.

Beth: of COURSE they snuggle, head butt and give kisses. I’m guessing your surgeon has no pets. Well, maybe a fish.
