Here in Minneapolis, the New Year came in at Midnight, when I was still asleep. For some reason, people here were getting very excited about the calendar changing years.

Technically, it is a suburb of St. Paul! It’s on high ground, so several local TV stations have their transmitting facilities there.

“Impostor!”? Dude, the guy came to a New Year’s Eve party with his mother. That’s Gunther, to the marrow.

And no Rosa. Is Greg about to split everyone apart?

Rosa is probably stuck in that remote mountain village with Montezuma’s revenge.

Hopefully Gunther will let his beard and moustache grow out to a full state (meaning at least an inch or so) and not just keep the scruffy 4-5 day growth look. I disliked shaving and did that myself when I was 19 in college. I have never shaved off my beard or moustache in the several subsequent decades (only trimmed it and shaved a clean neck line). Neither my wife nor my kids have ever seen me without a beard & moustache. It is more comfortable, and gives a “nerdy” fellow a different, usually better look. In several ways I was a bit like Gunther, and it was helpful for me in many regards. People took me more seriously.

What the heck happened to Gunther ? Joined guerilla in Peruvian mountains?

No one was particularly upset about Gunther’s departure for Peru, because they figured that as soon as he experienced life in a rural mountain village, he would come running back to Mama. And they were right.

Wow, Gunther is actually really cute now. I wonder if Luann will start feeling confused about her feelings for him.

It’s going to take more than a few days growth to turn Gunther into a chick magnet!

Glad the G-man is back, he’s had the most interesting (and frustrating) storyline in the past year. Now, I’m anxious for the explanation of what happened. He looks happy, not like Rosa dumped him. Could they have gotten married? Did he finally become master of his own life, and not Rosa’s lap dog?

Rosa has given Gunther the most important attribute a man can have. Confidence. Confidence is everything when it comes to women. Even if they went separate ways, Rosa was the best thing to happen to him. She validated him. Peopke can see it. Like I said yesteeday I predict Gunrrher and Bernice will hook up. Will Luann become jealous? Could get interesting.

Take a calmative, guys! We still don’t know the G-man’s story. We have no idea what has or has not happened in regard to Rosa. All we see, here, today, is a bunch or recent high school grads excited to see their old pal back home. I wouldn’t necessarily read anything more into it, for now. Let’s wait to hear Gunther’s explanation of his appearance (in every sense of the word).

LOL, thanks for laugh, here is how in Spanish is written Perú…………. and is important that diacritical mark, makes a difference along with Capital letters between el papá(the dad) and el Papa(the Pope) and la papa(the potato)

So maybe he’s just “visiting”? I suppose he timed his visit for New Years, to make sure that Mama and Mr. Gray wouldn’t share a midnight kiss. (Apparently, it worked.)

I hope the green shirt means Knute is next in line for a change. He needs to grow up more than anyone. I suggest drug overdose. Then let commenters here decide by vote if he survives or not. Sure, it’s been done, but he’s just so boring and predictable… oh, and I voted for Robin to die (yeah, I’m old).

I hope he is just visiting and goes to back to Rosa and Peru.

The answer to ’where’s Rosa’ may also be ‘well, with her family, naturally.’ Could be they both took a break.

he’s a ‘man’ of few words… so far…..seemingly relaxed in his own skin, a sign of change from the nervous, fearful sweaty palmed ‘boy (?)’ of the past. I hope this change remains. This strip is great… In this former high school crowd there is just about one of every stereotype and now we get to see them grow up and transform themselves.

Years ago, when Lynn Johnston (For Better or for Worse") thought that Farley’s time was coming up, Charles Schulz got angry with her, and threatened to have Snoopy get run over by a car if she went through with it. Well, She went through with it. Farley, old as he was, died after saving April from the rushing melt-water of a nearby brook, and went out a fondly-remembered hero. Snoopy stayed with us! Somehow, I think Puddles will be in attendance at Luann’s wedding.

Whew!!! A lot of interesting thoughts to read through, today! – And a lot of kind words and thoughts for us all from a lot of folks!!!

Thanks, we did! Our grass is too soggy to mow even though there’s not been any measurably moisture for several days! So, I planted some Amaryllis that I got for a CMAS present! Around here people shoot off fireworks, so that was “interesting.” IS Katie does not like fireworks…so we put her in her nite-nite kennel, and she fell fast asleep! ;)
