Why would anyone have leftover Brussels Sprouts?

Why would anyone make Brussels Sprouts in the first place??

This is so not-Arlo: No chefs fantasy in that man? Just add two or three eggs and have a delicious vegetable omelett.

Optionally put a layer of bacon in the dry cold skillet or just pour enough olive oil, heat until the fat starts to cover the bottom and sizzle and pour the seasoned egg-leftover-vegetables mix (graated cheese?) on top, reduce heat, put on the lid. Optionally put cheese on top to melt. Let it sit until desired state of cooking, maybe flip the whole over, twice for the bacon to become crisp.

Takes no 10 minutes, needs precooked vegetables, potatoes or such. Or leafy vegetables, maybe sprouts – whatever cooks in the 5 to 10 minutes in which it becomes hot sitting in the skillet. If you unfortunately have no leftover vegetables you may need to fry some chunked tomatoes, bellpeppers… with the bacon and/or oil first. If you have: frozen chips/french fries can be used like pre-cooked, sliced/diced potatoes, but need to be fried with the bacon to gain some tasty brownness.

Peas & Carrots is my favorite combination of vegetables, better than succotash.

Well, Arlo, break out some of that turkey you froze after Thanksgiving, and mix it in with the “greens”. Ym!

Different individuals have different likes and dislikes, though I sometimes wonder how many folks “dislike” vegetables simply because as children they were taught that they should dislike them.

As for myself, I’ve always liked virtually all vegetables, whether raw or cooked in various ways. Yes, it’s possible to prepare them badly, and some varieties are tastier than others, but I haven’t found any vegetable I’ve tried — from artichokes to zucchini — to be inherently offensive.

Like most other veggies, if you don’t cook ’em right, you end up with the reason why people hate ’em! We like our Brussels sprouts steamed to just done and with a butter-lemon “sauce”. Roasted are okay, but more fussy to fix.

Could be worse. Could be leftover Lima Beans.

Every refrigerator has a crisper drawer. Hide your veggies there ’til they rot.

We’ve been getting Imperfect Product and can’t keep up. We have an entire box of unidentified root veggies.

Arlo’s not this picky about food. I’ve seen some of his concoctions.

I tried Brussel Sprouts once. They were bitter and generally terrible. I was told that perhaps they were too old. I’m not willing to take a chance to test that theory.

Sounds like my ex-husband. He only at the leftover meat and left the starches and veggies for others to eat…(maybe that is why he had a heart attack)

Peas and carrots are delicious, or at least can be prepared that way. Brussels sprouts, however, are prepared only by people who are willing to suffer themselves as long as they can inflict suffering on others (a surprisingly large class of individuals).

    That’s why they’re left over.

(Not that greens aren’t usually better the second day.)

I’ve never found brussels sprouts in more than a 24 oz bag, so I’ve never had any left over.
